Six hard numbers to check when choosing a cross-border warehouse
A low quote does not make a warehouse suitable. Here is the evaluation order that actually works: system integration, warehouse location, free-storage terms, value-added services, compensation, and the one-piece shipping threshold.
Do not open with the price question
Most sellers open a warehouse conversation with "what is your rate per order?" That is the wrong first question. The rate is an output, not an input. Before comparing anything, get three answers on the table: can the system talk to yours, where are the warehouses physically, and what exactly does the free-storage promise cover.
Get integration answered in writing
"We support API" is not an answer. Ask which platforms are connected through official APIs, and ask to see a test order run through end to end before you sign. A warehouse that cannot take your orders in automatically will make you re-key every order by hand, and that labour never shows up in the rate table.
Yunque Post runs on official platform APIs across 17+ platforms, ships from a single piece, and stores goods free for up to 180 days. That is the bar a warehouse should be held to.
Warehouse location decides your transit time
A network is chosen for geography. Youmanman runs Shenzhen, Dongguan, Yiwu and Zhengzhou: Shenzhen on the South China export gateway, Dongguan inside the manufacturing belt, Yiwu at the small-commodity distribution hub, Zhengzhou in central China with China-Europe rail service. Ask which one sits closest to your suppliers, because domestic transit to the warehouse is a cost and a delay you pay for before anything ships abroad.
The free-storage clause needs three numbers in it
This is where quotes get vague. How many days are free, does the clock start at inbound arrival or at order placement, and what happens on the day after. Then ask what storage costs beyond that, and whether system fees are included or billed separately.
Youmanman Cloud Warehouse offers 90 days free storage for small items with no system fee, and storage is not billed before that period starts. Get the clause into the contract rather than trusting a sales summary.
Ask where the extra work gets done
Value-added services are where a warehouse either saves you a step or quietly queues you behind everyone else's dispatch. Ask for the full list with unit prices, not the popular subset. Youmanman runs 14 services, with labeling, tag removal, hanger swaps, vacuum packing, boxing, gift wrapping, QC and photography among the common ones. The complete catalog is available from an advisor.
The question that matters more: is this done on the inbound side, or does it sit behind your outbound orders? Work done inbound does not compete with your dispatch schedule.
Compensation terms hide the biggest difference
Ask three things: what is covered, what evidence you need, and who pays first. Then check whether the compensation follows a published schedule or is case by case. A published schedule means you can compute the outcome before you argue. Photograph the sealed carton at every handover and keep your order screenshots — evidence speeds up a claim more than any contract wording.
One-piece shipping changes who you can be
A minimum order quantity is a real constraint. If a warehouse will not ship a single unit, you cannot test a new product with one piece. Youmanman Cloud Warehouse ships from one piece across 100+ international routes, so your first test does not have to be your largest shipment.
A comparison table you can fill in
Print this and put the quotes side by side. Any cell a vendor cannot fill in is itself an answer.

FAQ
Q: Is the lowest per-order rate the thing to compare? A: No. Integration, warehouse location and the free-storage start point move the total far more than the rate does. Treat the rate as one row, not the deciding vote.
Q: Does 90 days free storage mean shipping is free too? A: No. It covers storage for small items and the system fee. Main carriage and the other legs are settled against their own rates.
Q: Do all warehouses have a minimum batch? A: No, and you have to ask each one. Youmanman Cloud Warehouse ships from one piece, and Yunque Post also dispatches single pieces. This matters a lot for small sellers.
Q: Can I use a warehouse further from my factory? A: Yes, but if your goods cross two domestic legs, what you save on the export line can be eaten by the domestic transit. Include the domestic leg in the calculation.
Q: How do I verify the integration is real? A: Run one real test order through the whole chain before committing volume. If the order does not appear in their system automatically, the integration is not there.
